Home & Garden Television (HGTV) brings their popular Telly Award winning TV show, Designers' Challenge to Hawaii and challenges local interior designer Lisa Kotero of Kotero Design.

This daily half-hour series follows one homeowner and their renovation challenge per episode and takes them on a real-life interior-design project as they consult with three expert interior designers to help them fully realize their fabulous new look for their home renovation project.

One of (HGTV's) most popular shows, Designers’ Challenge challenges top interior designers to solve difficult renovation projects and bring to the client design solutions with the homeowner making the final selection as to which interior designer and design they desire.

"Designers' Challenge was first brought to my attention by my nine (9) year old daughter Christiane," states Interior Designer Lisa Kotero. She laughingly continues, "My daughter told me that I should be on that show since I always come up with solutions for design challenges -- she calls me the MacGyver of interior design!" referring to the television action series.  Lisa’s husband called HGTV and convinced them to come to Hawaii and tape one of their episodes that aired on September 29, 2005 on HGTV.

"After my husband spoke to them [Designers' Challenge] I began to talk with show executives and they said that as soon as they could find a homeowner with a tough project, they would call me and after almost a year they finally did," comments Kotero. Lisa Kotero works on many commercial, residential, and governmental interior design projects as well as custom furniture designs.  She competed and eventually won the design contest by understanding her client needs, and design aspirations and came up with a winning design!

Designers' Challenge finally did find the perfect challenge -- an old style Kamaaina home built in the 1950's in Kahala that needed a family room renovation that was very difficult indeed. Says Kotero, "I'm excited about being on Designers' Challenge because first of all I am able to help a local family with their home renovation project but secondly we can showcase some of the unique elements of the Hawaiian home such as the beauty of working with Koa wood and natural grass-cloth wall coverings."

Hosted by Chris Harrison, Designers' Challenge features homes and homeowners from around the country and sets them up with expert interior designers as well as local craftsmen and contractors to compete for the project and when chosen, complete the interior design renovation.
